Today i will tell you a solution to fix missing icon on iPhone homescreen or dock. This problem is faced by many iPhone users who have their iPhone jailbroken, the missing icon generally troubles a user on rare occasions only. Besides this there is another similar white icon problem which causes an app icon to go white and make it unresponsive.
Notice that if you regularly install apps from cydia then you might be having this problem more often. This is just a disadvantage of jailbreaking your iPhone but can be fixed easily in most cases. Here are a few tricks you can try before you decide to restore your device. These tricks should fix the missing icons & the white icon problem on iPhone.
The problem is noticeable on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 & iPhone 4S, while not yet iPhone 5 since no jailbreak is available yet.

- The first thing you can do is power on and off your iPhone by pressing and holding the power button on top and then “slide to power off”. Press and hold the power button again to turn it on. Doesnt work?, try more.
- Try resetting your iPhone by pressing and holding the power button on top & the home button simultaneously until the phone reboots and you see an apple logo. Dont worry it doesn’t remove any data or apps from the phone.
- If the icon went missing after installing a cydia app then go to homescreen edit mode by pressing and holding an icon and then immediately exit the edit mode by pressing the home button.
- If the white blank icon doesnt seem to go away with other tricks then try installing any cydia app to fix it, you can uninstall it later on.
- If you are a winterboard user then you can also try clearing the springboard cache. Download and install iWipe Cache from cydia and run the app. Respring the device after that.
- The last option which everyone hates is to restore the iPhone via iTunes. The iPhone iOS will be updated to latest version and you will loose the jailbreak too. This will surely fix missing icons & other iOS related problems on iPhone.
